Since 1993, the Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) has sponsored the annual Don Ritenour Charity Golf Classic, formerly known as the VHDA Charity Invitational Golf Tournament. The proceeds of this event are awarded to select homeless shelters and service providers in Virginia. Through this effort, VHDA has donated over $1.7 million to over 70 homeless shelters and Habitat for Humanity houses. We hope you will support the selected emergency shelters and Habitat for Humanity project by participating in the 2015 Don Ritenour Charity Golf Classic.
Record snow and low temperatures are inconveniences that most of Virginia experienced this winter. But for homeless families and veterans, these conditions are much more than inconvenient. They are life threatening conditions that add to the daily struggle to merely survive. Shelters across the Commonwealth are facing overcrowding that leaves them no choice but to turn away some who need it the most — women and children fleeing domestic violence and veterans who find adjusting to civilian life too difficult to handle on their own.
